Bairs Abroad is about sharing my travel journey with the world. Vicarious travelers, dreamers, and trip goers, are all part of the journey meeting up with people and places across the street and around the world.
When the Army moved our family to Japan I discovered an ancient Japanese pilgrimage circuit at this temple grounds. For the next 2 years we traveled around Japan enjoying vending machines and places I knew friends and family would never see so I set up a little Facebook page so they could follow us around. I ate fried octopus, Michael and our kids took surf lessons, and a few dear friends drove to some remote ancient temples. Mt Fuji, fire festivals, daruma dolls... it all started here.
Sometimes you just need to go off road. Shout out to Port Royal Tours for a great penguin journey to from Port Stanley across private farmland and drove through a pond to view 5 types of penguins and share homemade lunch.
6 of us did an Ama Waterways Christmas cruise (Danube from Prague to Budapest). The captain dressed up as Santa and you can't beat market food!
Did you know that many ships on different cruise lines are essentially the same build just personalized to the line? This is a little look at Sapphire Princess.
"Meaningful Travel with Melanie" Heart of Guatemala trip took on a wild ride in the back of a pickup truck to family coffee fields than back to roast beans and make fresh coffee. Defiantly not a passive experience!
